    Para and series 80 question

Does all the 1911 series of Para even the old ones have series 80 firing mechanisms?

As far as I know, yes. My first Para was a pre-ban P12.45 and it has a Series 80 firing pin safety.

Unless Para's old 'gunsmith' frame was any different, I believe all Paras were series 80 - style.

The gunsmith frame kit comes with a spacer to adapt to series 70 slides, I dont know about the LDAs.

    Rick:

The LDA slide uses the Colt-style drop safety. A little flag in the frame trips it as usual. Darned if I can figure out how ....

AFAIK, Para's used that since forever. Probably some silly Canadian rule ....

I'd rather it wasn't there, and know how to get rid of it, but don't find it too terrible. Mas Ayoob paranoia tells me to leave it there....

    Regards,
    Stu.
