    hammer issues

    i just installed a wilson combat grip safety and a jtm hammer on my ria , with the safety on i pull the trigger the hammer moves . when i drop the safety the hammer falls to the half cock position . i am fairly new to the 1911 , any help would be much appreciated .

    The thumb is no longer correctly fitted as it was fitted to the original hammer and sear engagement. The new hammer has changed that and if you like the new hammer then I hope you'll like the new thumb safety that needs to be fitted to your gun.

    Your thumb safety can be welded up and fitted.

    found the problem , jtm is a swenson . looked at the reviews on 1911 . org , bobed factory hammer threw swenson in the garbage gun works perfect . thanks for the quick response , i really enjoy the site .
