First post here. I bought a Gi Micro Compact about 2 months ago. It has a WW serial number but the ejection port has been lowered. I plan on using it as my carry piece.
The only thing I want to do to it is have an ambidexterous safety installed.

Does anyone think deburing the internals would be worthwhile?

What year did SA release their Mil Spec pistol? I contacted SA about a 9mm I was looking at and by the serial number they told me it was made in 1988 and was pre Mil Spec.

    Springfield's Website

Just wanted to add another significant difference between the two models. Springfield's website states that the Mil-Spec has a polished feed ramp and throated barrel as well. It does not state this for the G.I. model.

The lanyard loop was put on the original 1911s so that horse cavalry troops could secure their weapons to themselves or their saddles. The saddle ring on the cavalry carbines served the same purpose.
