    Colt rules.

I've only owned Colts, Springfields and Kimber 1911's.

In my limited experience, Colt is the best in every category.

    Just curious...

    Latest number is:
    Colt -16
    NH - 10
Anybody know if Colt uses MIM parts? Only curious, nobody get upset please...

    No worries. A fair question.

    The "Model T" vote

I'm casting a vote for Rock Island - the Model T of 1911s. Like the Model T, they are affordable, reliable, and inexpensive enough that anyone can own one. A base Rock is a little over $325; I bought my Tactical for under $400. Very few other 1911 mfgs can get near that price.

And with that price, consider the accuracy, reliability and service you get! My RI shoots better than I can (which doesn't say much), but over on the RI forum, there are reports that say the RI shoots with other higher-end 1911s.

The RI gets my vote: it is able to put a 1911 in every gunsafe!

And, as Henry Ford says, it comes in black!

PS. What's that rumor about Colt???

Come on folks, this poll doesn't make any sense. Can't compare a Wilson Combat or a Nighthawk to a RIA or a Kimber. Apples and oranges.

    A little over a year ago I decided that I wanted a 1911.

So, I bought an "apple" (5") and it was good.
A few weeks later I bought another "apple" (4") and it, too, was good.
A little while later I bought my third "apple" (3") and, likewise, it was good.

Then, I decided that I wanted an "orange". Several of my friends warned me, but I ignored their wisdom.

So, I bought an "orange" (5") and it was WAY BETTER THAN GOOD!!!
A short time after that I bought another "orange" (4") and it, too, was WAY BETTER THAN GOOD!!!
Then I sold all of my "apples" to finance a nice selection of "oranges" that continue to amaze me!!!!

Oh, I did buy another "apple" along the way, but I sent it to a top-notch agriculture expert and had it turned into an "orange" ...

Apples & Oranges ??? Yup .... and I've developed quite a taste for citrus
    Gary ....

I came into this world with nothing and I still have most of it left ...

    wood for the fire

    It's not a fair poll. I agree.

I voted for Nighthawk. Had to, I've got more Nighthawks than Colts.

I will say this. After I got my Colt GCT back from the fine folks at Novak's, it holds it's own just fine against any other gun I own.

And the Colt has gone bang EVERY time since day one. You can't ask for better.
