I agree with John, you should have two polls, possibly three. One poll for mass production manufacturers, one for semi-custom, and one for truly custom house models. You can't compare a Nighthawk to a mass production weapon.

I agree with what's been said about the apples to oranges comparison.
I do find it interesting though that Colt is holding it's own against the better custom/semi-custom choices. I guess those boys and girls in Hartford might know a thing or three about making a good 1911.
"The 1911 was the design, given by God to us through John M. Browning, that represents the epitome of what a killing tool needs to be. It was true in 1911 and it's true now." - Col. Robert Coates commanding, U.S. Marine Corp Special Operations Command Detachment 1 (DET 1)
id choose a custom. Not all of us have the same hands. the same needs. A custom will give each one of us a good 1911 =)
I based my choice (Nighthawk Custom) strictly on MY personal experience with the brands that I've owned (Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Wilson, Ed Brown, Les Baer and Nighthawk).
#1: NHC - I own two and have a third on order
#2: Les Baer - a VERY close second
#3: Custom - my "custom" gun started life as a Colt and took a trip through the Yost-Bonitz shop
I don't know about the "best in the world" thing, but certainly the best that I've had the pleasure of owning!

Absolutley insane.... the poll went to Colt on the other forum, too. I'll have to look into getting one of those!

The Best 1911 on Earth, is the one that you can reach and fire on a split second notice. No other gun in the world matters at that moment. Shoot your carry gun often, in order to have confidence in the gun and maintain your skills.

Rich, there's no room in here for sane comments like that!
If it isn't durable, it isn't reliable.
Rich I agree and in my case that will always be a Colt and most likely a Gold Cup Trophy.Originally Posted by Rich-D

While Rich's post is the most technically accurate (and I agree 100%), this thread is about being opinionated and emotional.
I would like to point out that Colt is the runaway winner by at least 2-1 over the next closest which is Nighthawk. In fact, if you take Nighthawk out of the mix, Colt has as many votes as all the others combined. Run Pony Run!!!
