Randall pistols are denoted by a four-character model notation, starting with an alphabetical prefix followed by three digits. These model codes are not marked on the pistols.

The alphabetical prefix will be either A, B, or C.
A = right-handed configuration only
B = left-handed configuration only
C = right-handed light weight model

The first numerical digit will be 1, 2 or 3.
1 = Service Model
2 = Service Model – C or Raider
3 = Curtis E. LeMay Model

The second numerical digit will be a 1, 2 or 3.
1 = round top slide and fixed sights
2 = flattop slide and fixed sights
3 = flattop slide and adj. sights

The third numerical digit will also be a 1, 2 or 3.
1 = .45ACP cal
2 = 9mm Para.
3 = .38 Super.
