    Monthly Newsletter

Hello, Yesterday I received an E-mail from John Caradimas offering me the Monthly Newsletter as a member of the forum here. I was surprised to hear that I am a member. Frankly I just couldn't recollect the forum and if I was a member I hadn't logged in for at least seven years. I started reading the forum on repairing the pistols and came across a posting by 1911 Tuner and then remembered the advice he gave me when I obtained my first 1911 made in 1918. His advice was always given cheerfully and I still have that Model 1911 in good shape.

Why did I leave for so long. Not sure. I think, at that time, there was quite a lot of contention going on, those with high post count pouncing on newbies (which I was) and one was almost afraid to ask a question, fearing a mistake would bring repercussions.

I read a lot of the forums yesterday and couldn't find a bit of contention. It seems to be a polite, easy going forum now and I'll be coming back for more. Thanks for the Monthly Newsletter. Jon

Jon, we need to thank you for your membership.

M1911.ORG Forums site has always been a gentlemen's playground. Newbies were never pounced by old-timers, maybe you mix us up with another site?

In any case, we are happy to see you back!

P.S.: One question, for all of you. The newsletter we sent you, was supposed to include a list of the latest discussions. Did all of you got that list? Because some members who wrote to me, didn't have that list in their reply. Please let me know.

I didn’t get a list of topics just an advertising banner.

I must say I find sudden unsolicited “newsletters” off putting. I know it is a feature of the software.

Robert, many thanks for letting me know about the list of topics. A glitch in the software caused that problem, fixed now.

Just to let you know, there is a very simple way to stop the newsletter if you feel like it, just go to your "Settings", then "General Settings" from the menu on the left, find the option "Subscribe To Community Newsletters:" and turn it off.

I do however believe, that an once-a-month email is not such a big issue, for our members. You know that we are not going to abuse this feature.

What a great idea! At pert/near 66 years young I thought I would have tons of time on my hands........NOT!!! Between Grandkids to play with and a gunroom full of pistols to work on, life is busy. Having a reminder such as this will help me look at all the new threads I feel I need to read!! Thank you!!!

    John:

I didn't receive the list with mine, either, but I'm looking forward to the newsletter!
