    Rebuilt 1911?

I inherited this from my stepfather with no history. A low serial number but is this a rebuild? Could it be a fake?

1913 serial number, later slide, A1 trigger, hammer, grip safety, mainspring housing, grips.
    Looks refinished.
Probably a rework, nobody would fake a "mixmaster." Would they?

Thanks for the response. My assumption is that it is a rebuild.

Could you provide a clear close photo of the serial number area? OG indicates possible Odgen Arsenal rebuild.

Just to the left of the serial number are two letters "O" over "G", so I think you are correct. Well, I guess that just lowered the value of the pistol.

No, if that is the proper place for an Ogden overhaul stamp, it increases the value. We already know it is not original, an arsenal stamp makes it a legitimate issue.

Do a forum search for Ogden to see some example photos. Your marks a little higher than usual but font looks similar to the other photos.

Thanks for your response. Looks like an Ogden rebuild. I wish I knew the history of this firearm. I have a Trapdoor 45-70 that was carried into action in Cuba because the soldier who fired it was sent to the hospital 6 times and the weapon was inventoried each visit. The records were in the Natl Archives.
