    Am. Classic II Feeding issue

Picked up my new Am. Classic II .38 Super today. Cleaned and headed to range. It seems like the mag catch doesn't hold the magazine tight enough so the magazine doesn't stay fully seated. It just drops a mm or two but it is enough to cause feeding issues. This happened with both the supplied Mecgar mag and two Colt mags I already had. Can this be adjusted or do I need a new part. TIA.

ps. If I rested the gun butt on a sandbag keeping the mag up and tight the gun ran 100% and is very accurate.

EGW sells a magazine catch that will hold your magazine higher in the frame. http://www.egwguns.com/mag-catches/
I have done a lot of tinkering with my Metro 45 ACP AC II mainly in order to "learn" basic gun butchering not because of failed parts. However, my AC II's magazine catch failed early. I replaced it with an EGW part. Remember that 'drop in' parts are unicorns in the 1911 world. Every now and then you get lucky but that luck may come with a cost.

Well I think the gun is going to have to go in for service. Got a EGW higher lift mag catch and am still having feeding issues with both types of magazines. Eagle is sending me a new catch and I will try that and if still FTF I will send it in for service.
