For those who have been infected with the digital bug, Harbor Freight offers this one:
The fact that it costs two bucks less than the dial caliper tells us something. FWIW, I compared one of these Harbor Freight digital calipers to a "brand name" digital that cost about three times as much. They were the same caliper. Both made in China, every detail was the same, even the instruction sheet was identical. The only difference was the name on the box. The reality is, unless you're buying a multi-hundred dollar device that you know is made in the USA, they are all the same and they all roll off the same assembly line in China. A $40 or $60 Chinese digital caliper is NOT two or three times better than the $20 Harbor Freight caliper.
