Hello all

I don't own an EMP but I have shot it, and I loved it. The only thing that prevented me from buying one was (and is ) the price.
The thing to watch out for is that a great many of the small parts and the fire control group in the EMP are not standard 1911 parts, and standard parts cannot be modified to fit. Remember, they made the entire pistol approximately 1/8" shorter by cutting a vertical slice up through the magwell. So anything that spans the mag well - such as the magazine, the trigger, the firing pin, the extractor, and a few other parts -- are proportionally shortened. This makes all those parts proprietary to Springfield Armory. That's not an issue if you're just going to buy it and carry it. It's a consideration if you like to tinker with your 1911s.

Thanks for the info, Hawkmoon. I have a SA XDS 9mm and it is a favorite CCW. I don't tinker with internals much, other than polishing parts as needed. Does the narrower mag well affect grip changeouts?

I believe it does. There are one or two aftermarket sources for grips, but don't expect anything like the plethora of choice we're used to.Does the narrower mag well affect grip changeouts?
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

My EMP is a .40 but it has been very reliable and easy to carry for several years. If I were getting an EMP today I would likely get a 9mm as I've started shooting 9 mm more often.
My EDC is a EMP in 9mm.
i have nothing but praise for this piece!
Easy to conceal and has never had any issues.
Around 2K rounds through it.
You won't be disappointed.

I had an EMP 3" 9mm a while back that I sadly parted company with when funding the purchase of an LWRC M6A2 during the height of the evil reflectively challenged rifle paranoia that happened after the Sandy Hook Shooting. That said, the EMP was a fine little pistol and I'm giving some very serious thought to getting one again when I have the funds for it. The only little nit picks that I had were that the mags didn't have flush fitting floor plates, the mags didn't have witness holes, and as was observed above, it's not a tinkerer's gun. In terms of fit and function, however, it's an A+ across the board. Really a great little gun.
