This doesn't affect Taurus' 1911 pistols, but it does affect more than one of their other semi-automatic pistols. Apparently some of Taurus' non-1911 pistols have an action that's designed in such a way that applying the thumb safety doesn't prevent the possibility of having the gun fire. I hadn't heard about this before, but I just read an article that reports on the settlement.

If you own a Taurus semi-automatic pistol, read the article, and pay particular attention to the last paragraph. You can either sell the pistol back to Taurus, or send it in to be repaired.
