I have also just learned that my ithica was my great uncles service pistol. He was a colonel in the army and this gun has been passed through my family for 4 generations. Btw, how do i post pictures of it and the mag pouch ? I cant seem to register or contact an admin on mobile form. Help ?

Your Colt 1911A1 was produced in the 1942-1943 time frame as part of a run of 102,000 pistols. Serial numbers ranged from 862,000 to 958,100. (The numbers don't exactly add up to 102,000 but the information is from Clawson's Collector's Guide.) There were also 304 replacement numbers used in that time frame but serial numbered below that range.

The easiest way I've found to add pic's to any forum is to create a free account with Photobucket. You can upload pic's from your computer directly to Photobucket and link them into the quick reply box on the forum thread. You have to select "go advanced" in the reply tab before linking them from Photobucket. Thats a quick overview. I'm not a computer person and it's the easiest way for me. The alternative is to locate any teenager who will accomplish this task for you in a nano second.

For inserting images, scroll down until you see the Quick Reply box. Now, above the area where you can type your reply, there is a line of tools, where you can select to type in Bold, Italics etc. The third icon from the right in that toolbar, if you let your cursor rest over it, it says "Insert image". Click on it and follow the instructions.

Congratulations on your finding, I think everybody would be interested to see some pictures of your ITHACA.
Originality can't be restored, so put "originality" at the top of a priority list. If JMB didn't put it on the 1911 you don't need it.
