colt willy clapp CCO or Dan Wesson cco

    Dear members:

I want to purchase a lightweight CCO and am looking at either the Colt Wiley Clapp CCO or the Dan Wesson CCO. I love, and own, many Colts, however I've read a lot about the high quality of Dan Wesson. None of the gun stores in my area have a sample of these pistols in stock, so I'm hoping members can provide some views and hands on experience?

I know the DW has a ramped, fully supported barrel, but I don't know if that deviation from JMB's design is necessary, or good. Any perspectives would be appreciated, especially if you have fired, or own (ed) these pistols.

    Thanks,
    Ray.

Both good guns but you might see if you can find a couple in a gun store to look at. There are minor differences in checkering, thumb safeties etc. Your hand might like one over the other.

You'll see a Colt Gunsite turn up on Gunbroker periodically. IIRC the last one I saw went for about $1100. I can't say how that might compare to the models you mention. Surprising (to me) most appear to be either NIB or used very lightly. EDIT: I hadn't looked in a while, but see that there is one currently listed with a starting price of $1,068 :EDIT

I can't speak to either model you mentioned. I too have heard good things about Dan Wesson. I guess I have the same question as you if indeed they sport the ramped barrel.

    It's an intriguing platform.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
