    It's funny that you mentioned competing as my grandfather was a B-24 pilot in WWII and then was in the Air Force reserve where he shot competitively with the Model 41, so he may have modified the 1911 as well for shooting competitively. I put 50 rounds through it this last weekend and can say it was a pleasure to fire, plus I know that my grandfather was looking down on me smiling.

    KeithN, there are no markings on the top of the barrel, however I did notice that on the barrels leg(?) that there is some lettering that I failed to take a picture of, but I do remember that it was a single letter or number on one side and two letters on the other.

    Appears the UNITED STATES PROPERTY mark removed from the dust cover on the LHS, fwd of the slide stop.
