I do realize the above applies only to sales of complete guns, and that there may be some exceptions there, too (for older curios and relics), though... this only just occurred to me. Huh...
Some sellers have posted photos of one thing but shipped something different. Some buyers have claimed not receiving items, demanding refunds, or have returned something different than was shipped. Some sellers/buyers turned out not to live at the addresses provided when these issues arise.

I don't know if GB cross checks any registration information for correctness but have heard at one pt they required a CC number and would ping that CC with a $1 charge to verify a current acct.

I can understand all these issues, Paypal is doing the same, but if someone breaks in Paypal user details, while very invonvenient, all they would know is that I bought a camera or a pair of shoes. Brreaking in GB database, that someone knows that these people have (in their majority) purchased a gun, or something gun-related. Not good.

Very true and as I said, I'm not happy about it, but I suppose it's a consequense of modern convenience. I would also be very unhappy if someone hacked the NRA database or those of some of the gun periodicals. I'm also not convinced the ATF/FBI destroys all the NICs data they collect as required by law.

The US Government knows everything about everybody who purchases or sells guns on the Internet, as well as all FFL transactions. The government knows everything about those who are members of Internet Forums, be it Facebook or Gun Forums. Big Brother is here and now and there is really no way to hide from their watchful eyes lawful firearm transactions!

Washington believes a government that listens to its citizens. It's gotten to where a person can't walk out the door of their home without a cell phone or traffic camera recording every move they make.

I would also add that in the process they have guaranteed the future profitalilitably (not sure that is a word) of the gun manufactures and the resale value for those who own guns.

All good points, and why I've never even considered an online firearm purchase.
