    Can't reply to a thread

Why would I not be able to reply to a thread that isn't locked?
It says I do not have permissions to access that page

If it isn't locked, you should be able to post a reply.

Unless it's in the Flea Market. Flea Market threads are not open for posting responses.

Soonofagun. You're right. It was in Flea Market and you cannot reply to a thread.
Why is that? How can something being sold be date stamped to the first "I'll take it" if no one can reply to the thread?

The reason we were forced to make the Flea Market an announcement area only, is that in the past we have received complaints of various sorts. Sellers tend to post their ads in several different places, so who posted the first "I'll take it" is no longer significant. Since we do not want to be involved in such arguments, between seller and prospect buyer, we decided to use the old fashioned way. Let the two parties sort these things out. So we made the Flea Market an announcement area only. It is the seller's responsibility to provide contact information, such as telephone number, email address etc and it is his responsibility to sort who-came-first issues. Not ours.

This is also the reason, why we ask sellers not to list something for sale here, which is also listed in an auction site. We do not want to get involved in any disputes between the seller and the buyers.

And remember that you can always contact the seller using the Private Messaging system of this site. It's the seller responsibility to make sure his Inbox has enough room to receive PMs.

    I hope this clarifies things.

As always, we are doing our best to protect our members, but we are also open to suggestions on how to improve things.

We also had problems with potential buyers posting questions, and the sellers posting answers, that resulted in "bumping" older ads above the most recent ads in the Flea Market index. So the members who posted the most complete ads were effectively being penalized, and the people who posted ads that lacked information were being "rewarded" by having their ads bumped back up. We felt that wasn't fair.

That was another factor contributing to the decision to make the Flea Market ads read-only.
