    My Argentine Sistema Colt

Here is my Argentine 1911. This was one used by local police according to the stamp on the slide.

This pistol was made in 1960 according to the serial number. When I got it there was no finish left on it. It was all matching numbers and was in need of a lot of work. I decided to make it a bit of a custom shooter. I went thru it and replaced all the springs and a couple of broken pins. The original trigger was bent so I put in a custom one. With a little bit of stone work and a new barrel bushing It is a nice shooter now.

I sprayed it with HK Black and OD green Dura coat and I am happy with the finish. I also installed factory Colt rubber grips I picked up years ago. Its kind of a Wilson Combat color finish. I'm not sure if I am going to get into this pistol any more, I have a couple others to work on.

Nice looking pistola. Odd that there's a police stamp on the left side. Too bad these have gone up so much lately...should have gotten a few when they were alot less. Oh well. Good luck with it...

After a little more research It turns out that the stamp on the side means that it was issued to the Federal Internal Security Dept when it was new. Interesting history with this one.

No, Sorry to contradict you , but that sistema used to belong to the Policia de Santa Fe. The stamp on the slide belongs to them "Direccion Policia Santa Fe" Which can be a bit rarer than the ones that used to belong to internal security of the police.

It is sometimes hard to find info about the small distinctions between these weapons from an earlier time and another country. I had not been able to find anything about Santa Fe. Thank you for the information.

I know it can be hard, even sometimes local shooters have hard time doing some ID on their Sistemas. If you local carefuly under the P of F.M.A.P you will see a faded Santa Fe.
    Anywya it's a nice find.

If you didn't notice the flag under his name, GePa lives in Argentina. He is our resident expert on Sistemas, as well as having contributed the article on gun laws in Argentina for the e-zine.
