Ah yes... this must be it.

The current location of the forum's main page, is:

    forum.m1911.org/forum.php

Before the recent forum update, the location of the main page was:

    forum.m1911.org/forums.php

It's only one letter, but it matters. If you had the old link bookmarked, or if you just picked it from your list of recent pages, you need to reset it.

May I humbly suggest that you bookmark only http://www.m1911.org , you can access all our sites, with one click, from there.

Unfortunately, nothing is permanent on this God's internet, so using the above link will allow you to always stay in touch, even when the crazy admin starts doing his things again.

If memory serves me correctly, a while back I was having similar problems with Firefox and this site. Wound up uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. Every thing was fine after that. Not sure what the problem was but it was only this site and only on one computer.

    Good luck figuring it out.

    No go.

I can access the site from my office (now) but not at home with either IE or Firefox. Yep, IE access just stopped! Gotta be a security setting somewhere. Reinstallation of Firefox did not help. I'll look in my "cookies" etc. tonight...

Just make sure you use the link John gave further up, to get to the main M1911.ORG page, then try to get to the forum from there.

I've now tried three PCs, two with Win7, one with Win8, both running Firefox, no issues, no special settings... so if this has nothing to do with the links/bookmarks you're using, it must be a changed setting in your PC, somewhere.

On my home PC I can get to the "main page" (http://www.m1911.org) but not into the Forums area. Not with either IE or Firefox. I suspect there's a security issue and my PC refuses to go there. Times out, "not found," and other errors. Or are all the ads blocking access? Reinstalled Firefox and tried withOUT AVG or Adblocker running with the same result.

The "E-zine" area is accessible though, just not the forums.

This is the only website I've experienced this. And only on my home PC -- I'm at my office now.

This has all started in the past two weeks.

Did your internet connection at home (your modem/router, if you have a DSL line) reset itself recently, i.e. after a power cut or something?

Next time you are at your home computer, try this:

In the area, where you type the site you want to access, type this address: 199.79.199.45

Write down the address and try it at home. Let me know if the site opens.

If it was caused by your antispam, antimalware or whatever other filter, you should get a message about this. In your case, it just times out, so I am suspecting a DNS issue. Do you by any chance get a window asking to enter a user name and password? Not the regular log in screen, but a small window from the top of the browser window, asking you for a user name and password.

    Other things to try:

Open a Command prompt window (Click on Start at the lower left corner, then "Run" and enter "cmd". In the box enter "ping forum.m1911.org". You should get something like this:

    PING forum.m1911.org (199.79.199.45): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=0 ttl=45 time=161.087 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=1 ttl=45 time=154.301 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=2 ttl=45 time=156.087 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=3 ttl=45 time=154.566 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=4 ttl=45 time=155.630 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=5 ttl=45 time=155.224 ms
    64 bytes from 199.79.199.45: icmp_seq=6 ttl=45 time=154.947 ms

If you do not get this, or if you get an error message, tell me what the error is.

Unable to access the forum from any PC on my home network. Nada. Problem appears to be my internet provider (Cox cable) or modem or router is blocking this site. Worked until a couple weeks ago. I'm accessing now via a cellular connection that bypasses my network. This iPad won't access it via my network though.

This turns out to not be a Firefox issue.

For a while a couple of weeks ago there was no access to the forum (only this forum of the whole web I've tried) with Firefox. But now it doesn't work with anything. Not IE, not Safari, not on a PC, not on a Mac or iPod via my network.

Anyone have any further hints? This is related to my home network and is not PC specific. The only access I have at home is on my iPad and only when using a cellular connection that bypasses my home network. Site is dead on all devices (PC and Apple) other than that. Only seems to be the 199.79.199.45 url (which, oddly enough, I have memorized ).

Pinging this url works fine, just no connection to the forum.

I just thought of bypassing the router and connecting directly to the cable modem -- that will have to wait until tonight -- and try to pinpoint where the blockage is occurring.
