I started rotary tumbling 45 acp for my 1911s with RCBS liquid media back around 1984 and continued until several years ago when I substituted 2 oz. of white vinegar with about 5 cups of water and a just a bit of Palmolive dishwashing detergent. It worked great but didn't really clean the inside or primer pockets.

(If using the RCBS sidewinder tumbler you'll need to remove it from the drum right after tumbling about 3 to 4 hours. If you leave it in overnight it will eat away the glue that holds the base of the drum in.)

I've since moved on to using stainless steel media and after 5 hours they are completely clean inside and out including the primer pocket. If they are decapped first they dry completely overnight by simply laying them out on a towel. With primers in I lay them out the same way and it takes about 4 to 5 days to dry completely. Never had a problem with residual moisture, etc.
