    Another Firestorm

My two sons always like shooting my Firestorm 1911 - they've both told me that when I pass, that's really the only thing they want - it was my first 1911, and the only thing I did was add a set of the Hogue wrap-around grips - as you guys that have Firestorms know, it's an unbelievably smooth shooter. So when I saw a nice Firestorm listed for sale, I literally had no choice - it's on it's way to me and now I'll have two.

Congrats! Don't forget to post pics of your new firestorm. It is a fine crafted 1911.

Well done texas yankee, but you actually need a third so the three of you can shoot together.

What's the consensus here about shooting steel-cased ammo in the Firestorm \ American Classic 1911s? The steel cased ammo is certainly less expensive and I'm just interested in target shooting for personal enjoyment - I'm not into anything competitive where pinpoint accuracy is a consideration, I don't carry either of the 1911s for self defense, and I don't really put a lot of rounds through them - maybe 50 - 100 rounds (if that) a couple of times a month.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I use to shoot steel cased ammo all the time without any issue in a Charles Daily. I haven't tried any in my AC commander, but I say go for it. Worst it can do is slightly wear the extractor faster than brass if even at all. David

It can accelerate extractor wear, but I have not had a problem shooting steel case.

    Then there were three . . .

I was at a small, local gun show with my older son last weekend and there it was just sitting on a table waiting for me - a Firestorm 1911 (Serial # in the low 500s) - still in the original box - not new, but close - I had it out to the range this weekend and of course it ran fine - I think I'll leave the original grips on this one, at least for a while.

It'll be a magic day for me when my two sons and I are all together at a range shooting those three Firestorms!

Well done sir. What a moment it will be with you and your two sons on the line shooting together.
