My M1911A1 w/photos

Hello!

This is my Colt M1911A1. The serial # is 1612xxx.

Can you help me to get the year, and even month, when it was manufactured or shipped, and where to?

The story I have heard goes so that this pistol together with thousands of similar were shipped as lend-lease aid to the USSR during WWII. These would have been sold abroad in the 90's from Ukraine.

My pistol seems to be unfired but it has suffered some storage wear.

I have checked the parts and according to the Clawson book all pets seem to match.

I have an unissued holster from Sears, dated 1942 for this pistol.

I try to post some photos. I have had some difficulties lately.

Very nice looking pistol.

Looks like a nice original pistol.
Are there any additional proof marks on the pistol that would indicate a Russian Lend-Lease...like under the slide stop? On the bottom of the slide? The pistols reported as being Russian Lend-Lease that I've seen here in the USA have all had German proof marks from 1995.
Did the Russians obliterate or paste over the last three digits of the serial number, or are you just hiding them from us here as you ask for information on your pistol?

Can't trust those Russians; they might want it back.

The only "strange" proof mark is a "95" upsode down, at laest I think so.

No German or Finnish import stamps but I know that this thing arrived from Germany.

No, that is the Colt factory assembler's mark. Each assembler and each inspector was assigned his own stamp to use which identified him as doing the work. I do not know of any records today which identify who had that stamp.

After that 95 mystery the only unclear marking is on the bottom of the slide. It looks like an X and something else but can't say anything about it.
