Hi all,
I am considering a new 5" 1911. I currently own a Volkmann Combat Carry commander sized gun and could not be more pleased. I have looked at NHC and Wilson and I just keep coming back to the Signature. Here's what I'm thinking:
Bead Blast Stainless finish
Small parts in Diamond Black
U notch rear site
Green Fiber optic front
High cut grip
Three hole long trigger, 3.5 lb pull
Top of slide , rear of slide serrations
Volkmann Bushing
Recessed slide stop
Not sure on magwell.
So anyway, for those of you who own Signatures:
1) What do you think of my option list. Anything I should add
2) If you were to order your gun over again, what would you do different.
Thanks,
Ziplock

Sounds like that will be a GREAT build. Look at his grip-well instead of the standard magwell, it is a huge whole without adding and weight.
I think he has pictures on the website.

Thanks Zip, just went to his website and saw it. I have never seen something like that before. Very cool.
Hey, what do you think about going with Rock coat on the small parts instead of diamondblack? Do you think DB is worth the extra? I don't know anyone with Rock coat so if anyone out there has it, please let me know how it wears.
Thanks,
Jeff

Ionbond is awesome! Nothing comes close for a "black" gun. My next one will wear the same finish.

I thought of going all Diamondblack. I have never seen the finish in person.
I suppose I could do a complete reversal and go Diamondblack gun with stainless small parts. If anyone has pics of all DB, I'd love to see em.
IDK, I think the bead blast SS with DB parts would look very sharp, but now you got me wondering.
Anyone care to jump on the pile here? I'm still at the impressionable phase.

I would look at the Ionbond...... nice dark even color, looks great on small parts and in my opinion is the best coating out there besides NP3.

Bing, your PM inbox is "full" and won't accept any new PMs. Just to let you know.

Your build sounds great. I am having Luke replace my front tritium sight with a 10-8 Fiberoptic, and a black serrated adjustable rear sight to replace the original tritium sights. Like your idea for the grip well. Best of luck.

Hey PEG, saw that was your first post :wc:
I think the Fiber Optic touch is really cool. I was wondering if anyone has seen a trijicon fiber optic front. My understanding is that it has a tritium vial at the end of it so it looks like a fiber optic site in the day, and a nite site in the dark.
You guys have me thinking hard about going ionbond with SS small parts, or just all ionbond and go with the Johnny Cash theme... black on black.
One of the great things about going with Luke is he will work with you if you change your mind along the way, and he never left me hanging for a response when he built my Combat Carry.
Most of the time he would return my email in an hour or so. When you include the customer service factor with the quality of his work, the price /value equation is one of the best available.
