Hi everyone - new to the site. Not so new to 1911s, but there is a lot to be learned.
I have a SW1911 - earlier plain jane stainless that I'll most likely be letting go due to my recent acquisitions.
I came into a couple guns through relatives.
I have a 1918 Colt US Army 1911 that has been refitted and hacked over the years. About the only original parts on the gun are the frame and the slide, and some goofball decided to drill and tap the slide for a weaver rail at some point. So I have some work ahead of me. My goal is to tune it into a reliable carry gun with style.
Next is a '62 Colt National Match that was custom 'smithed back in the day for NRA Bullseye. It has it's factory hammer, trigger and NM barrel jeweled; custom stippling on the front strap; lowered and beveled ejection port; adj Bomar sights and a custom fit Dinan barrel bushing. The slide to frame play is non-existent, so this one I'm leaving alone and using for local bullseye shoots and target fun.
I'll be needing a lot of advice and user experiences to influence me along the way. I may lurk a bit, but I'll be reading before I post.
Thanks.
