Too long have I watched with envy, seeing other peoples Norincos on the forums!
Now I have mine here too, I know they are in good company after seeing all of yours. :D
By the way, does anyone have experience with putting STI parts onto the Norks??
31st July 2005, 16:35
I'd like to share a photo of my Norinco 1911A1 that I bought used for $290. I changed a lot of parts, digests all kinds of .45 acp rounds including JHPs.http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b227/Ric4509/th_Norinco006.jpg (http://)

I noticed my pictures posted by Canuck are not up anymore so here are my family of Norincos.
Norinco A1 - no mods, my carry bush gun. Soon to be shooting the .45 Super and my Commander before modifications:
My modified A1
My Commander as it now looks:
This is my NP 29 in 9MM. May leave stock. Sights are adequate but can't for the life of me understand why Norinco just doesn't put a Noval/Heinie type sight on the gun. They copy everything else.
14th December 2005, 19:57
Sorry for the picture. It was only taken from my mobile phone. I already posted in our poll, and John sorry you have to use a magnifying glass. If pics below ain't fine yet gotta use a real cam and ask my wife to do it for me.

Better pics of my Nork hope you like it.
28th January 2006, 00:25
hi all, really glad to find this place! this is my first post here. this is one of my favourite rinco 1911s - 1911 A1C. I've never done any mod on this gun, but I still think it's cool.
2nd March 2006, 21:24
My Norc Commander, with kamagong wood grips.
At last My Own Twins! Just got my 2nd Norinco last night.
The new one is on the top of your screen. Went to the range right away after cleaning it and shot 100 rounds of Armscor FMJ with no failure at all. Shoots just like my 1st Norinco. Only the grips were replaced. Very happy and at least now I have my own set of twins. :)
30th March 2006, 09:58
at last i figured it out...here's the pics...'hope you'll like it guys. I'll improve the picture quality though, next time!!

22nd April 2006, 22:38
Got my Norinco back after initial changes. Will have it refinished in the future. Am thinking of hardchromed frame and reblued slide.
11th July 2006, 04:10
Here is my daily carry, lightly modded. I want to find another, this gun is the most accurate 1911 I own, and I have a few high dollar guns that one would think would out shoot it.
17th July 2006, 09:04
Here is my Nork.
26th July 2006, 22:15
factory nickle plate with std lanyard loop
this one has the following mods:
chip mc cormick hammer and sear (crisp 2# pull)
millett big combat sights
colt beaver tail grip safety
colt blue thumb safety
hard chromed barrel (std i think)
shoots fast and accurate
any ideas about what its worth?

2nd August 2006, 20:39
Hope I did that right.
a $250 Norinco. I'd like to replace all of the springs. The barrel and slide lugs are in good shape. No excessive play. The three dot sights are in poor shape. No real plan at this point what I really want to do with it. So its in the safe for now..... I haven't even shot the gun yet.
19th August 2006, 16:49
Pretty much stock except the grips, since I didn't like the Hogues. I would like to get different (combat) sights and replace the safety. Other than that it shoots pretty strait and is reliable. I've shot hundreds of rounds of filthy reloads and then it cycles through the hollowpoints.
22nd August 2006, 00:39
My Norinco NP-30 45 ACP
Only new Hogue Grips so far, but i've only had it for...a month now?
Anyways, i like how it looks, and i see alot of promise

Here is my hard chrome norinco. got it used but in like new condition! :D
6th October 2006, 17:11
Here is my Norinco.
I bought it at a pawn shop in 1993 for $180.00!
It shoots very well. I went shooting with a friend of mine, he brought his Kimber and I borught my ugly duckling Norinco...hehe I out shot him and he out shot himself with my gun. He was not happy.
Over the past several years, I put the grips, sights, tail, hammer and trigger on it. I run a full length rod and MecGar mags. Original barrel has a few thousand rounds thorugh it and it still shoots anything I feed it...My favorite pistol.
16th October 2006, 01:56
I found another Norinco that was in need of a home. It's little beat up but, it'll be a good base for my Kimber .22 conversion.
25th October 2006, 22:49
good day.this is my first post here. after serveral months of reading and searching. finally picked up my Nork police blued model a week ago. 30 rounds so far no jam at all. This pistol shoots great!
question on the barrel: what is that MP mark on the barrel. armscor, federal, norinco 45ACP have the same mp mark
26th October 2006, 22:35
I am new to this forum and new to Norinco. I ran up on a 1911A1 in a pawn shop Sunday afternoon. The Nork appeared new and unfired for $335 out the door. I was not up on the Norks, so I spent several hours on the internet doing research. I found the best information on this forum. I was also impressed with attidudes and the lack of gun snobs. This thing has a quality feel to it, and will hand feed big mouth Gold Dots with no problem.
5th November 2006, 23:33
Second outing of my norc police, shot 50 rounds of Armscor 230 FMJ last Oct 29 at 15 meters, no problem whatsoever. I Love this gun!!! :)
First 15 shots:
Using 8 rounder novaks mag:
7 rounder factory mag:
Sorry for the target pics, I used only a cell phone VGA camera. Thanks. :)

9th January 2007, 23:52
She's pretty plain, only replaced the plastic grips with Hogue grips but I like her "Rough Rugged Look" She shoots consistenly great!!
I do plan on a trigger, sights and beavertail mods. She cost $274 in 1993.
14th January 2007, 20:39
Hi guys! I just wanted to share my new Norc. Its' a Norinco two tone "Police". I think, its the same model that will be issued to the Philippine National Police. I just replaced the the rubber grips with kamagong grips.

Looks better than mine.
Here's a picture of my purchase from Gunbrokers.com back in January.

its a 9mm np29 , i fitted new stainless steel ambi safteys , slide release , extended mag release , novak read sight , it had a clark type front dovetail blade sight fitted , nowlin trigger kit , a wilson group gripper guide rod , some flash wood grips and made an aluminium mag well like the rescomp magwell on my para , took a while but it as wide as a double stacker in the mouth .... shoots quite well and only cost about $400 us all up to do .....
12th May 2007, 11:51
I forgot you have to be a member to view....you should join anyways good group of people.
Here's the post,
Well it's not that I'm ashamed of my Norinco but I've always wanted to remove the "exported by norinco" and "made in china" stamps on the frame.
Well I finally got around to it, about 6 hours... over two days.
Removed the stamps with a diamond stone.
Then took off the rest of the blueing with some casey blueing remover and evened out the metal with open mesh abrasive strips.
Re-blued with oxpho blue.
I didn't touch the slide but it could use some de-horning as well.

12th December 2007, 08:14
ok here is a better pic of my .45 i bought for $250 aus and spent $120 aus more on parts to bling it up a bit ..it had no finnish on it at all ! its my ...ahem ...silhoutte gun ! ahem ..cough cough ..but if that what it takes to have a .45acp so be it ..... ;) !!!
19th February 2008, 07:50
I have been bitten. Here is the scar . . . she came to me stock except for the rubber wrap-around grips you see.
19th February 2008, 09:03
I'm not a blingmeister. My pleasure is shooting, load development, tinkering to improve function/reliability, and more shooting. So all my guns are plain Janes. Sorry to disappoint, but that is how I like 'em.
Trouble is that ever since I bought my first two 1911s, we've had bitter cold and snow cover. I've concluded that winter is for revolvers!
Here is a photo of both my .45s. The Colt Series 70 came with the modifications you see -- got a deal on a surface worn pistol. both shoot well, but, like I said, I'm waiting for some better weather to fine-tune loads.
24th February 2008, 19:35
27th February 2008, 00:11
finally got it posted. hehe. got an extended mag for this at 10+1
8th March 2008, 00:06
Very nice photos, the variety and creativity of the Nork crowd is truly amazing. Here are a couple pics of my Norinco. I bought it in, I think, 1993 fresh off the boat and didn't do much except get the ramp polished, chamber throated and trigger job. Since then this pistol has fed any thing from military ball to flying ashtrays without complaint. Based on some advice in the parts forum I've added some comfort and cosmetic parts, continues to shoot great and looks good too. I'd like to refinish but I think I'll wait until I wear off more of the bluing.
10th March 2008, 18:21
Couple better pics of my Norc-in-Stein 1911:
Norinco 1911A-1 frame, Colt USGI slide, Armacoat desert brown finish, Springfield Armoury SA barrel, Wilson combat sites, Pachmayr grips, misc small parts, Mec-gar 8 round magazines with angle bumber.....
13th May 2008, 01:57
Here is my 1911 as it was a month ago:
And here it is today. Same exact gun (I know, I need go get a rear sight for it):
I think it looks rather swell.
I have to return the grip panel I got, it is cracked.
10th June 2008, 07:15
here's my soon to be released Norinco Police.
19th July 2008, 00:37
this home made custom nork is the natural response from the U.S. arms embargo to my country, because we can not qualify for colt, sti and others we feel the need to fix the few norincos reaching us.

15th September 2008, 05:22
Hi first time poster,
Just picked up my first gun and its a 1911.
Couldnt get a brand new one (im a student with not much money) so i got myself a norinco (from the suggestions on this forum their cheaper and just as good)
Got this norinco and made a couple of small modifications, changed the sights, the grips and the slide catch.
Im a pretty big noob so spare me.
15th September 2008, 07:35
Some nice looking Norks here. Just recently bought this NIB pre-ban, since I have many other 1911s...think I'm going to keep this one bone stock.

This is a great site and I'm learning a lot about my beloved Norinco .45. I had no idea why I hadn't seen any more for sae here for so long, until I read it here on this site. I thought I'd drop a line and say "here's mine" It's stock except for the grips. I've put quit a few rounds through it over the years with little to no problems. I'm taking the CHL class next weekend and it'll be what I'll carry.
16th February 2009, 05:09
Like to share some photos of my Norc. 1st one is right out of the box then followed by a few photos after modifications.

I'm a long time Glock owner and a complete newbie to the 1911scene and this forum. I traded some .30 surplus ammo for this litle baby, a Norinco NP29 in 9x19.

Here is a recent purchase of mine. A new in box Government Model Norinco 1911-A1. All I have done to it is detail stripped it and oiled it. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

13th June 2010, 16:37
This is my first post, so don't bite me too hard :p
Here is my Norinco 45 ACP Government M1911. Decided to get and extended mag and installed a break in the barrel for less recoil and some flash reduction. Decided to take the break off my service pistol from the Marines and keep it on this which I carry at all times when i'm off duty. Its a very reliable handgun and i've never had any problems with it. Highly recommended. :D

Here's the new look of my Norc...
5th September 2010, 08:37
Picked up my Norinco 1911A1 last saturday, haven't had the chance to feed some rounds into it
16th September 2010, 21:10
Here is my contribution to the thread. I purchased this pistol back about 94 or so. It has had some tuning done to it, polished ramp, trigger clean up, etc. Probably the most I had done to the old girl is having a set of Trijicon night sights installed. I think it cost more to have those sights installed than I paid for the pistol.

Last year I got my pre-ban 1911A LNIB from the estate of a friend, my first pistol.
It came with the aftermarket wood grips and the original plastic ones but now wears OD Hogues and looks exactly like this one that belongs to uglyvw...
14th December 2010, 16:12
It's been so long since I done the work, I can't remember all the particulars, but my Nork now sports a beavertail safety, long trigger, Wilson extractor and Bulletproof firing pin, along with Wilson springs. The springs are probably due for replacement, and my older eyes are demanding I do something about the sights.
I just picked up another Nork at an local auction. It is a "beater" to put it mildly. I intend to use it to learn, and relearn some gunsmithing skills and to experiment on what I want to do to my "good" Nork.

Hello...my second post here...Been too busy for the last week reading as much as possible and looking at the members fine pictures of their pistols.
For the Norinco enthusiasts.....>)
Mine is 15+ years old and has been flawless in execution for me....the finish is ailing some cause it is my " oops I dropped it...oh well can't hurt it" kind of go anywhere shoot anywhere, carry all the time gun.
WC trigger , WC shok buffer , and the grips...everything else is pure Norinco.

Please welcome my "Target" M1911A1.
It's a specific Italian model, since we have a law allowing not more than three handguns but up to five "sporting purpose" firearms, there you go -
you slap an LPA target sight on it, and it becomes a sporting firearm!
First failed attempt at some homemade grips..
Isn't she lovely?

Mine: bone stock but for the cheap grips.
Update: I guess the coolest thing about these is that they're really not worth all that much so it's safe to go nuts. On a whim, I had mine blasted on the top and bottom and the sides polished and the entire thing reblued. All I need is a set of nice grips and some decent sights and I'll be set...

Hi all. Here's some pics of my Norc family.
Government 'Sport'. I've only changed the grips on this one, but it'll be getting some new sights soon. Otherwise its a good shooter and I don't plan on changing anything.
Newer 'Compact'. This one has some issues. Barrel lug peened, slide sticks when pulled fully back. This is my 1911 gunsmithing learner's gun.
Older style 'Compact'. This one's new to me, and has had some work done to it. I can't wait to get it to the range!

Here is my 1911, it has been refinished, its now matte blue, two tone effect achieved by temperature difference of the bluing bath, accidental but it looks okay, forgot to blue the slidestop though:
It works real well with thse cast bullets that I make myself, never found any leading in it, only powder residue:

Hi , here is my baby ! I've had it for years but finally decided to make her mine .
There is an Ed Brown GS ,ambi saftey, I polished off the 'model of' stuff on the slide . I installed the sights with dove tail cut on the front . There is an undercut that I did with the mill where the front strap and trigger gaurd meet .
Then she was rust blued. Also lots of little triming up the trigger gaurd and rounding the front strap to a sort of Hi Power feel . Today we opened up the radius on the ejection port . I installed woff spring pack today as well .
Hope you like it .
