Hello,

I just picked up a used 1991A1 Commander, but am less than enthusiastic about the sights. I want to replace the front with a fiber optic, but am unsure if it's a wide or narrow tenon.

I'm also debating having the slide milled for Novak front fiber and a bo-mar style rear adjustable, but that's for later if I end up not liking the stock rear and/or have problems with the pinned front sight.

The gun also came with a full length guide rod installed, hogue grips, and a supposed trigger job of 3.5lbs (it is pretty light). The guy had it built to run in competition, but the economy forced him to sell the gun after it was built.

So, any help with the front tenon?

Thanks,
Matt

It's a wide tenon.

Excellent. Now, does anyone have any opinions on Hiviz sights? Or is it better to stick with something like Novak?

I'd link to Brownell's (above) for options.

Brownell's is bust for the most part. Nothing that is front/rear fiber optic that is drop-in, and in stock.

I may just have to settle for having the slide milled, from there the choices increase exponentially.
