I'm looking at a Raider that has Compensator, Beveled Magazine Opening, Competition Adjustable Trigger, And Adjustable Rear Sight. My question is, how hard would it be to return this to Factory original condition (especially the barrel and bushing) and is $650 a good price?

FXdiz:

If the compensator is a "bushing" type, replacing w/ a stock bushing is easy. As for the sights, as long as the rear dovetail & front tenon hole have not been altered, finding sights close in appearance to the original's would be the toughest part of that portion.

The trigger, again the tough part is finding an original part (ditto if the grip safety had been changed). As for the bevel job on the mag well, no way to put the metal back, so that's a done deal.

I'd say w/ some careful searching & substitution of very similar parts, you could get the pistol very close in appearance to original. As for the price, it's kind of hard to make a call. $650-bucks seems in the ball park for one of these, but I'd say let the overall condition & fit of the pistol weigh in your decision.

I appreciate the info. Since it would be hit and miss on the parts, I decided on a New Colt Combat Commander.

Randall Raiders were Commander-size versions made in 2 variations that I'm aware of; a round top slide with fixed sights (model A211), and a flat top slide with a Millett Model 100 adjustable rear sight (model A231). If yours is the flat top, that might be the original sight. Some of the earlier ones were roll marked "Service Model-C", the C standing for "compact."
The mag wells on Randalls were bevelled. If you're talking about that, and not an add-on mag well funnel, that might be original, too. Randalls came with a 10-groove barrel. That's one way to tell if you have the original barrel.
Original Randalls usually bring collector prices...not real high, but a little higher than just a run of the mill shooter. I have a full size Service Model (the most common variation made...3,431), and last time I checked, the blue book lists its value at something like $800.
There were 992 of the A211 made, and 574 of the A231.
I'd guess that if it's in good shape, and especially if that's not a permanently attached compensator, it's worth the asking price.
No, I didn't have all the above info in my head. I got it from an article one of the members posted on the forum. I'd send you the link to it...but I can't find it.

Icepick, Thanks for all of the info, but I decided to go with a new colt combat commander. By the way, here is a link to Randall Firearms history. http://www.gun-stop.com/randalhistory.html
