Who makes the new Volkmann Customs now? The man's current guns are offered as Volkmann Precision production guns. Are the many "customs" currently offered on the various brokerage sites just parts gun or are they a really good deal? I am in the market and looking for advice.

I just loked at Gunbroker, there are currently 2 listed, 1 new 1 used. The new one is being sold by Luke's former partner. I presume leftover from their agreement. The prices I see don't look like bargains. I doubt "parts" guns. If it says Volkmann I'd bet Luke built it.

If I had ANY questions as to who built the gun, I would send Luke an email at volkmannprecision@yahoo.com to find out if is one of his builds or it was "leftover" frame/parts from when he left Volkmann Custom. He will be able to tell you without a doubt if it is his from his time as Volkmann Custom or a frame that had his name on it when he got locked out of the shop.

I agree with Ziplock. There were several guns in various stages of completion that Luke was not able to finish. If in doubt call Luke with the serial number to see if he actually built that particular gun. If you are paying for a Volkmann you want to make sure that Luke Volkmann built it!

+ 1 to Ziplock.

I have the first commander built by Volkmann Precision.

Call Luke.

You won't find one of his pistols cheap. The demand is much greater than the supply . When they come up on the Gunslinger site, they are usually sold within a week. George at Gunslingers will give you the best price you can find. Might be worth calling him as well. He'll give you a price over the phone.

Best of luck, my Volkmann is the best 1911 I have ever seen. Some may argue, but this is my personal experience.

The above user inputs and a search led me to the following conclusions: The new Volkmann Customs are assembled by unknown parties, and Volkmann cannot back them. Because they are orphans, they are equivalent to "parts guns". The number seems to be steadily growing. There were 6 on GB and 3 on GA last week. One would have to be a Schmoe to pay the asking price against a Volkmann Precision which is again, supported by the man. Of course there can be "value" in a "parts gun" if a closeout price comes along. Thank you everyone for your insight.
