Picked up my SR1911 at the end of May and was able get it to the range about a week later (by range, I mean a tree stump off the side of a loggin' road up behind the house).
Initial impressions were high and the only thing I didn't care for much was the trigger. Had a little too much slop for me. I had an STI trigger in the parts bin and after some minor fitting, it fit very nicely. The black trigger adds to the excellant contrast of the two tone thing goin' on.
I shot 400 rounds of various ammo sitting in a bucket. Most of it was lefteovers from various IDPA and USPSA matches. They included 230gr ball from various manufacturers, Winchester Silvertips, Hornady TAP's, Federal Hydra Shoks, and reloads including 200gr. Montana Gold FP's, 230gr LRN, 230gr Montana Gold FMJ's and 185 SWC's.
Magazines used were Wilsons, Shooting Stars, Kimber (GASP, they work wonderfully for me), cheap $5.00 gun show specials marked Colt on the floorplate, and Springfield.
After a liberal lubing for break in, I proceeded to fire away.
Not a single malfunction of any kind whatsoever.
All ammo shot between 2-4" at 25 yards. A very lucky shot at about 40 yards sent a gopher to a better place.
I've shot high end 1911's that really did nothing better than this one.
I'm impressed. An American made 1911 that's both reliable and accurate as well as affordable. I couldn't be happier.
