I believe that the Ruger is making the whole pistol even the mags through their subsidiaries.

While some pistol makers keep information like this close to their chest, I'd be surprised if Ruger aren't open about who makes their magazines... the source of their P-series magazines wasn't such a big secret.
The basepad of the 8-rounder magazine, is a very familiar sight.

I hated that base pad, it looks really awkward. Honestly, I think I would probably just pick up a few Wilson 47s for it. Where was the Ruger P series mags from?

I was saving it for the review, but why not. I noticed in an early photo that the SR1911 mag followers looked very much like Patent # 5263273. That's a patent by Tom Vieweg. Followers of the magazine forum here may remember who Tom Vieweg is*.
Ruger confirmed that the magazines are indeed made by Checkmate. I consider this good news.
