I've been told by Kimber that the Ultra dual recoil springs need to be replaced ~ every 800 rounds in order to ensure proper functionining. Mine kept running a bit longer, w/ the help of some Wilson Combat mags. I can remove the entire assembly & mail it to Kimber to replace the springs, or I can keep buying whole assemblies from them. Is there a jig or tool I can buy or create to help me release, replace, and recapture the 2 springs on this assembly? Yes, I plan to perform this operation in a place where I (hopefully) can't lose the springs, and w/ eye protection.
