I have been contacted to get a list of complaints about your American Classic Workmanship, broken parts, finish, etc. What has been your problem if any.
Their will be a meeting with metro at shot show and they want to know opinions , Post here and I will pass them on to the importer. Lets make a great pistol better.

Hello,

I have never had a problem with my Metroarms American Classic pistol. I also ordered extra slide stops and extractors from them because I consider their parts to be an outstanding value.

I checked their slide and frame hardness values with a Rockwell hardness tester at work and they where both within specifications.

Every measurement I have taken on the Metroarms frame, slide and parts have been within specifications.

As far as I'm concerned there is nothing to ask MetroArms to do except to keep up the good work.

I usually replace the mag catch with one from Colt as they hold the mag about .015 higher giving the ammo a better run at the throat. 1 Commander was over machined in the feed ramp area letting the mags walk sideways and the rounds contact the slidestop. Awesome for the price and most are extremely accurate.

michael_t,

Thank you for taking this task on. Please feel free to PM me directly if there is anything you need more, or if the importer could help me out. Here are my issues on my Trophy in hard chrome:
1. As posted here, the FLGR was too long, extended too far.
2. The gun came with a manual for a different gun including different take down directions
3. I could not see at the FFL because of the grease, but when I took it home, my gun came fresh with some "idiot scratches" straight from the Philipines :) I am smiling but I am not happy at all
4. More of a minor issue, but the trigger is very gritty

I ended up swapping out the FLGR and am living with the gritty trigger and idiot scratches. The finish is just not up to snuff. The importer does not have an in-house warranty department and the warranty centers, well they are not going to refinish my slide. Overall I am ok, with my gun but not thrilled with the service, and don't have the raving customer service reviews that that folks with RIA 1911s give.

He is asking about Metro Arms. RIA does not service Metro Arms. If you are unhappy with RIA service, you should contact RIA and discuss it in the RIA form area, not here.

My ACII has been perfect. My only complaint is about the manual. Mine seemed to be a 10th generation photocopy and was completely illegible. While I'm no stranger to firearms and don't *need* the manual, there is no reason I shouldn't have one that is usable with a brand new firearm.

I did contact the importer for a replacement which they happily emailed to me. However, their copy is only marginally better than the one I received.

It's a good day for a firearms company when the only major complaint I can find is that their paperwork is lacking. :-)

Just got- and shot my AC Commander. It is tight fitting, more accurate than I am and well finished. The manual is for the wrong pistol, a government model rather than a Commander model.

The case is not very well designed. It could be a lot better laid out with places for extra magazines and the non-existing bushing wrench. I'd prefer to have real wood grips but, would rather have the lower price and buy my own grips than have someone else choose the wood and style.

OH, it should also come with unlimited ammo at no charge...... and free range fees!

Have been communicating with the home office...ejects are plunking me in the noggin.

Can't fit a Wilson Combat full length, Commander guide rod in, fits perfect in my Colt Commander.

Starting to see fail to feed about every 2nd magazine. Am using Federal and combo of Wilson, Colt and Metro magazines.

Separate note...Crimson Trace Laser will only fit if you replace the extended slide stop with a normal slide stop.

Per home office, will ship off to a warranty center for ejector work.

Thanks, I worded it awkwardly and edited the post. Thanks for the catch.

Ok I have sent both good and bad from here and my board including the grip screw problem on 2 pistols No way that should have been . So when I hear back .Which will likely after show . When it and the parties are over. I will let you know.

Just so every one knows . I am not a paid employee of Eagle . I am friend of the president of Eagle . This came about as result of my 1st Bersa board. I do travel to the NRA conventions East of the big river. At their expense to work at booth and meet board members . But I receive no pay . It just fun and when your retired. Most any thing can be fun.. :)

Michael, please pass on that when I received my ACII it came equipped with an idiot scratch straight from the Phillipines which eliminated the beautiful bluing under the slide release. Not so neat on a brand new pistol! I just shot it for the first time today and I see why people get addicted to these 1911's. Love the feel of it! Long time shooter and first time 1911 guy. :)

No problems with my Trophy, except a FLGR that was 1/16th too long. Since I was going to put in a standard GR and plug anyway, it meant nothing to me. If I ever want to put the FLGR back in, I'll just sand it down at the tip.

I can't believe you and I both had Trophy's that came with an idiot scratch. And then three of us on here had the FLGR that was too long.

Michael_T,

Thanks again for taking the time to pass the info along. We are grateful for you taking the time. I also appreciate the importer asking for our feedback. I look forward to any updates they share with you. Thanks!

Another buyer and I have both had our barrel bushings develop cracks. I replaced mine with a Kart and the other guy had it repaired at a warranty center.

The bluing seems to be a bit thin compared to most blued firearms. Mine had wear marks in the bluing from rattling around in the box it came in.

It has already been reported to a warrenty center but my extractor was a bit long. It also has the nose incorrectly contoured, actually not contoured at all and was square. This caused live rounds to hang in the ejection port as the weapon was being cleared. It was duplicated with several brands/types of ammunition as well as dummies that were shorter than factory.

All our complaints were passed on to factory and they are looking at them. I was told to tell every thanks . Metro does look it to these things as they want to have the best mid priced 1911 on market. I got a PM from my friend at Eagle . He said fax my dealers FFL. He had a present for me. I went OK!! and one was faxed next morning .All week long in my mind .I was seeing a New Amigo coming and I would have 1 of the first in America. Remember I had one of the first AC Deluxe. Before dist got them. When It came yesterday it was 1 of 10 special made Bersa Thunders. Its great and may be next time . If is a next time be another 1911. I will be at the NRA show this year in Pa . Look us up at the Bersa/ American classic booth. I will be the good looking old one. Enjoy you American classic I enjoy mine . Shoot more accurate than my Colts .

Well I wish I had seen this earlier, It may be too late but I'll speak up anyway. My extractor is not properly mated to the slide, it sticks out 1/16-1/8. I spoke to CGW about it to see if that could be fixed under warranty and they said that as long as the rest of the extractor is functioning then its purely cosmetic. Not what I really wanted to hear but hey, you can't win them all can you?
