I have a question on my 7 rd mags for GCNM series 80 MK-IV
at the bottom says colt .45 auto with the pony logo + a letter M on
the right top corner of the plate. is this the original? I also acquired a colt mags 7 rd same markings but has C on the right top corner how is it
different?

They are probably original. The C means it was made by checkmate and the M means it was made by metalform. However, I have read that there are some fake Colt mags being sold out there. Where did you get them?

If the one marked "C" is an old one, it may have been made by Colt. They haven't made their own magazines in a long time though. The "M" is a Metalform, made to Colt's specs. Good magazines if the springs are still good.

The Colt mags that has a marking M on the top right corner is from my Colt GCNM series 80 MK-IV and the spring is kind of weak i believe, But the
mags that has a marking C are new seem to me like 5 to 7 yrs. old bought from someone dont like the blue colt 7 rd.mag/

You can pick up new +10% Wolff mag springs from Brownell's for a square deal. Ditto what coltsr said. I've seen the fake mags all over the online auctions & at the last two larger show's I attended. Luckily (at least so far), they're really bad "copies"; one glance at the floorplate & you can easily tell.

Seeing that stuff irk's me. I asked one of the two guys selling that crap'ola at the last show if they were factory Colt mag's & he said "they've got the horse on them". Much as I would have liked (not) to continue the conversation, I figured moving on would be best for all. :D
