Here is a summary Range Report of my NRM Commander Model.
I had another short range report on my NRM Government Model here (http://www.1911forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83520) on another forum.
My Government Model is now about 4 months old and has upwards of approx. 3,000 assorted rounds through it. It has still not had a failure to feed or extract. It has functioned flawlessly with ball, Golden Sabers, Gold Dots, Ranger Ts, and Hydra Shoks. Nearly 3,000 rounds later it now has an action that feels like greased ball bearings. The inside of the slide looks good and the barrel still locks up with zero discernable movement. As when I picked it up, there is still a very slight slide to frame click click that does not seem to do anything to accuracy.
Now comes the report on my NRM Commander Model... a different story? An example of inconsistent quality? Nope.
This Colt's Commander Model has no slide to frame movement (except forwards and backwwards http://www.1911forum.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif) The barrel locks up as tight as the Government and the finish is excellent. The frame lines up in the rear and, and there are no scratches on the dust cover. The trigger is actually quite crisp and I don't think I will even mess with it...
On Sunday I had the first opportunity to take my new Commander Model to the range, I took with me:
2 Factory Mags (that came with the Commander)
2 Factory Mags (that came with my Government)
2 Factory Mags (I bought at a Gunshow)
2 McCormick Powermags 8 rounds
2 Wilson 8 rounds
400 rounds of Winchester White Box 230 grain
50 rounds of Federal American Eagle 230 grain
100 rounds of Rem Golden Sabers 230 grain
20 rounds of Federal Hydra Shoks 230 grain
The long story short, because detailing what happened with each mag and round combo would be tedious. Although I did take notes on a legal pad as I shot each mag... the Commander functioned 100% flawlessly!! No exaggeration, no bias, 100% bang every single time.
My wife, in the range booth next to me, had a stovepipe in her Glock 19 in the 250 rounds she shot. In the 570 rounds I put through the Colt Commander there were absolutely zero failures. Keep in mind that the Glock is 'broken in' and the Colt was straight out of the factory box. This was with each of the types of magazines I itemized above. Sometimes I would top off the mag with 7 or 8+1 some times I would load a mag from slide lock. The slide always locked back with every type of mag.

As you can see the two Colts I purchased, $549 for the Governemnt and $599 for the Commander, each are, so far, 100% flawless performers with nearly 4000 rounds between them!!
Congrats to Colt's Manufacturing for not only turning out two works of art, but two functional weapons.
I can't wait until the Commander looks as worn as the Government... we'll be playing catch up...
