Hello All
Would you have to have the slide cut to put night sight on a mil-spec??

I had night sights (Meprolight) on one pistol, that pistol got traded. I found that by the time I could clearly see the glow in the dark tritium dots, it was dark enough that I could no longer clearly make out my target. In the daytime the large white circles around the tubes presented a difficult to use sight picture. Maybe it's just me, maybe I just had a bad experience, but I don't care for them.
As for cutting the slide, depends upon the design of the sights.

You've never been in the right circumstances is all.

Mayhap I aint, but I just don't see the extra $100 or so for small pieces of radioactive material in my sights.
It's all good though.
On the other hand, Spending the $$$ to have your slide machined for Novaks can't be worth the money, but I had it done anyway.

Like I said, you've never been in the right circumstances is all. If you had, a 100 bucks is cheap.

I have to agree that night sights are quite appropriate for some circumstances. I had them on my Sig P226, and then on my 1911s, but for reasons not related to their usefulness, I had to remove them. Finally, and to answer the original question, the only sights which might fit the original dovetail cut at the rear, and the tenon opening at the front, are Meprolights. Check them out.
