What kind of grips originally came on the Remington Rand WW2 1911s? One came into the store where I work and someone said the grips on it aren't original. Any help is appreciated.

Remington Rand used Keyes grips throughout production. The Keyes grips can be identified by a K in a star on the back of the grip, along with a mould number. The early Keyes grips did not have a reinforcing ring around the screw hole, but this was added for the remainder of production. Keyes also made post WWII grips, but these will have a part number in addition to the other marks.

Take a look at www.coolgunsite.com 1911 ID Pages and click on "grips" there are pictures and examples. The 1911 Gallery also has pictures of complete pistols. If you want to see details of Johnny's explanation. :)
