can a person send a trigger and sear to a gunsmith to have the trigger pull improved on a series 80 1991A1? I don't care to ship the gun back and forth. I have seen the match-prepped hammer and sear sets, but I want to keep the current hammer.

Thanks!

Well, one thing is for sure, the trigger DOES NOT need to be send. Even though we call this a "trigger job", it has nothing to do with the trigger itself. The parts that are affected by a trigger job is the hammer and sear (and maybe the disconnector).

The answer to your question is yes, and no. Each pistol is a little different than the next one, and even if the gunsmith does his best, it will still not be as good as if he had your frame to work with.

There is an article in the Technical Issues forum, called "A Poor Man's Trigger Job". See if you can apply the instructions in it, to improve your trigger yourself. It's not difficult and the results are quite good.
