I recently got what was advertsied as a 1939 Colt 1911 Stub Thumb Safety.

It's a high polished blue part and looks old. But the backside does not have a sear block and it doesn't look as if it's been removed.

It also has a very small section inletted to allow it to work with oversized grips.

Doesn't look like it'll work with anything modern. Any idea what it's worth?

Aargh... I really don't want to do this, it being Thanksgiving & all...but:
:wl:

A front & back shot would definitely help.

No offense, but that safety has been ruined.
It will not work without the stud and is that weld around the shelf pad?

Does an original 1911 Safety have a sear block in the backside or not?

Is it junk, or a "priceless relic" of actual 1911 times?

Well, it's junk :(
It has to have the sear block to work, they were not made as the one pictured.

I wonder if that's for a replica pistol? Will a magnet pick it up?

Where did you buy this from? We need to know in order to protect other possible buyers from this crap. This is junk! Of course and the safety should have the sear engaging part, otherwise it is not a safety.

Please let us know where you got it from.

Tnx

Big Surprise:

E-BAY!

I will contact the "Seller" and give them the chance to correct their evil ways.

If they don't, I have no problem at all identifying them all over.

It was advertised as a "Colt 1911 Safety" from a 1939 Colt Pistol.

At least my lesson wasn't too costly.

As the saying goes Caveat Emptor.
