My Combatant Carry has 1000 rounds fired without a single FTF, FTE. It has lived up to my expectations. My Signature is relatively new but I suspect reliability will be outstanding.

I had some reliability with certain ammo at first, specifically JHP's mostly Ranger RA45T. so I tensioned the extractor, then Luke took the pistol back, made some adjustments and it's fine now.
but still not with the Ranger. I switched to Speer Gold Dots and everything is fine.
never had a problem with ball of any kind.

I carry the the +p variant of that ammo. What kind of problem did/do you have with RA45T?

I had numerous failures to feed with RA45T with the supplied Metalform round top seven round magazines. I tried Checkmates, MecGars, and Tripps, all seven round fixed baseplates. I retensioned the extractor and it improved somewhat.

I'm not worried about it since I have an ample supply of Gold Dots, HST and Golden Sabers. all of which are 100% reliable after extensive testing.

@exec - I had the opportunity to shoot a Volkmann a couple of weeks ago and it was a great experience...very accurate and performed flawlessly. It's owner, a friend of mine, only has about 3k rounds through it but has had no issues whatsoever.
Also, two of my very good and trusted friends on this board (Deadman and TonyW) bought Volkmanns and they both love them......that's good enough for me....I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Good luck,
DD

I have about 3k through mine (mostly miscellaneous ball ammo, about 500 rounds of Federal HST, and 100+ rounds of Golden Saber...). I had a problem early on with extractor tension which Luke fixed and I haven't had any issues since then.

I Own 4 of the Volkmann Customs, from lower S# to the must recent. I have shoot around 3K rounds between the four of them and not a problem so far, shoot anything I get in my hands including reloads.

I only found 1 issue in my recent Combat Custom ans is regarding the magazine, it does not like other brand of magazine, contrary to my other Volkmanns, except for this minor issue I consider Lukes guns a real masterpiece.... :appld:

one last comment on the reliability of a Volkmann.

I have taken two advanced handgun classes from Suarez with this pistol.
two days each, the most advanced class involved about 750 rnds. the pistol was fired from all different positions I mean stuff you wouldn't imagine you'd ever fire a gun from...
I don't baby my guns, even my $3,200 Volkmann.
dropped it on the ground to go to a BUG, rolled over on it with it in the holster.

all I did upon return to my hotel was a bore snake and a drop or two of lube on the bushing, and rails.

ran like a scalded ape.

it looks pretty rough, and has seen some touch up, but it goes bang every time.

for me, case closed.

Deadman your a better man than me, the thought of dropping my rosco in the dirt makes me cringe, and rolling over on it "ouch". I reserve that kind of treatment for my G-lock...

Mine did not work properly out of the box. Luke fixed it and paid for shipping both ways, but after a long wait and all that talk of "masterpieces" I had expected perfect out of the box. Now sold.

What problems did it have?

Pistol was doubling and in some cases tripling.

What is doubling and/or tripling?

It's when a gun fires two (doubling) or three (tripling) rounds when you press the trigger once.

It's seen at practical ranges all around the world, usually when a sear spring isn't tensioned properly, or (on one case I witnessed personally) when someone tries to see if it's possible to have a 1.5lb trigger pull...

I can understand not trusting a gun once you have had some trouble with it. I had that happen to me with two different Sigs a few years back. I no longer own a Sig Sauer. I know they are good guns and trusted by military and law enforcement all over the world...but two problem guns in a row...no thank you.

My Combat Custom has been flawless in just under 1000 rounds. Fit and finish is superb. Very accurate. The dealer I have used for about 12 years FFLd it for me and commented on how nice a pistol it was. He told me not to get rid of this one (he has seen me go through a lot of guns in all those years).

I don't think that you can go wrong with one of his pistols. He is also super to work with.

Exciting, too. Really wakes you up when you're deep in a long range session.

Thanks for the explanation, odd you mention that... Over the last week I put about 1500 more rounds through my Volkmann (around 4-4500k total round count) and It doubled once or twice and later on in the range session it went to half cock a few times. I just adjusted the sear spring a bit and it took care of the problem.
