Hi guys I thought I would play around with a shock buffer in my norinco. how exactly are they installed. looks to me that it slides over the main spring rod and then the main spring slides on.

if this is the way they go on i dont see what the thing does. I think that this would make the spring slightly longer and change the weight of it as well. I tried to install it like this and i noticed that when the slide was held back by the slide stop , and you pull the slide back to let it down, the slide dosn't have enough room to move back , and alow the slide stop to fall down under its own power.

i know this subject has been bet to death on shock buffers i tried a search and i did not find anything about installing them. also looked else were on the net and still never found anything about installing them . :dead_hors

You have the right idea and that is where it goes, but it may not work on all guns. You may not be able to slingshot the bolt as you have experienced and you may not have the slide lock open on the last shot with an empty mag. Sometimes the take up to much trave. You may be reaching a point where the spring is solid, the only way to check this is to assemble the gun without the spring and see ir you gain more travel, in this case you may want to clip a turn or 2 off the spring. I use a shock buff on my SA Loaded Parkerized full size gun with a 14# Wolff spring and a firing pin stop with the small radius an dit works fine. What works on one gun may not work on another, good luck Len aka the oldman of bearandoldman
