View Full Version : Trigger hanging up?

Hello everone, I am new to this Forum, and I just got my first M1911. It is a 1943 Colt that has been arsonal rebuilt at least twice, so it is a shooter, not a collector.
Anyway, when I pull the trigger it dose not alway return fully forward. I can pinch it and pull it forward, and this problem dosen't happen when the mag is out. I have tried different mags, so I have ruled that out.
Any Ideas? I am pretty mechanicly inclined.
Thanks
George

Sounds like the trigger bow is bent inwards and hanging slightly on the mag. when it's in the well. I would remove the trigger and see if you can detect any bends in the bow.

Yeap, what he said. Or just replace the trigger with a new one.
While you have the trigger out, do some polishing in those rails in which the trigger moves, it can reduce your trigger pull by .... oh maybe .005 lbs. LoL

Open the slide and look down the mag well. You can work the trigger with the slide open. Any bends in the trigger bow should be obvious.
Also check your magazine. The only place it should show any rubbing is from the mag release hole upwards. any other rub marks may indicate if trigger is rubbing.
Keep us informed.

Other possibilities: Weak or broken sear spring, the leaf that applies pressure to the trigger.
Dried lubricant, a bur, or debris in the trigger bar channels.
