A tough decission!

My dealer got my new practical HP in today to replace the bad one I had. We had already made arrangements for him to keep the new practical; and I would pay him the difference and take home another stainless Gold Cup Trophy. (I already have one). So today, he throws me a curve and tells me he has a WW1 repro that just came in, and I can have my choice! Guy really knows how to torture people doesn't he? So I am going nuts trying to figure out if I want a GCT for each hand (they are great pistols), or a GCT and a WW1 repro to go with it. The biggest mistake I made was going down to look at the repro. What a beautiful pistol! Trouble is, the GCT is an absolutly beautiful pistol, and a great shooter too! I know I can't swing them both, so here I sit; a beautiful blonde on one arm, and a gorgeous brunette on the other. What a choice!

My Replica just arrived today, and you're right, it's a beautiful gun. I need to scald my fingertips before touching it, so as to not marr its perfect surface....

If nothing else, I'm fairly certain the replica is worth more. And variety is the spice of life, as they say ;) Personally, I'd go for the replica, but I'm not exactly unbiased here.. Good luck!

Thanks Wes, I appreciate even unbiased opinions. Price on the two is only $15 apart; at least here at this dealer. Some people like to put a couple good coats of a hard automotive wax on their pistols. Won't protect the finish from major dings and scratches, but does add a couple coats of protection against the "little" ones. Give it a try.

Even though this isn't going to help you much, I would prefer a Series 70 repro, instead of the WWI one. This is the gun I have always dreamed about, ever since I was at my twins age (2.5 YO).

If only the Greek law was a bit more relaxed and allowed me three pistols! (oh yes, and if I was not broke, and if the Financials Minister of the family -that's my wife- would allow me the expenditure).

Greek law only allows the possession of two handguns per person??? That's pretty odd. I take it your wife already has two herself. Perhaps you need to adopt? ;)

John, just wanted to let you know that I appreciated the fine job you do with this forum. Sorry to hear that Greece has such laws, but you sure do have some good cooking! Love those stuffed grape leaves! While I am at it, and quite off subject, how about a recipe? I have some grape vines out back, and would love to make some up. Back to the guns, I picked up the WW1 reproduction. They only had two Colts in stock; this one and a Gold Cup. I took everyones advice; it seemed to be unaminous on all the forums; and got the WW1. What a gorgeous pistol! Colt has really outdone themselves. I brought it home, cleaned it up, and went out back and put fifty rounds through her. Shoots like a dream! Trigger is VERY light and crisp; better than my Gold Cup!! Slide feels like it is running on ball bearings. She shoots as good as she looks. Where you put that little front sight is where the hole appears. I am quite beyond words with this one! Very happy! My wife will have to move over tonight; as I am sleeping with my new baby!

Unfortunatelly, my wife is not Greek, so she cannot act in that role. As for the rest of the family, they are still too young to help me out (I am sure the law does not allow 2 1/2 years old to own 1911s).

As for the recipe for the stuffed grape leaves, give me some time, I might find something in my wife's cooking books. In the mean time, try this:

It doesn't have the recipe you want, but if you scroll down a little you'll find one for MEATBALLS AVGOLEMONO (with egg and lemon sauce). All you have to do, is to wrap those meatballs in vine leaves and you have practically the same result.
