Hello everyone out there. Just ran into a problem trying to install a Wilson Combat Mag Well on my RIA 1911 2-tone Tac Model. The MSH (Main Spring Housing that has the backstrap checkering) comes passed the frame of the pistol. Basically, the MSH is a little long and WILL NOT allow me to "flush fit" the new mag well.

I guess I never noticed this before, seems silly to me why the MSH would be longer than the frame of the gun. It comes down maybe 1/8" - 1/4" passed the frame.........so my new Mag Well will not sit flush!

Any thoughts??

I will call and talk to Arnel next week, too late to call now (might try on Saturday if they are open).

Yep - I had that problem with my spartan - Not too much of a gap on the RIA tacticals - but I use Ed Brown and S&A magwells on all mine - I do have one - Wilson - had to file the top to get it to fit flush.

Well here is a suggestion - You could sell the wilson and get a Smith/Alexander - they fit better on the RIA pistols

I would have smith fit it - Those wilson parts are not cheap.

I installed a Kimber Magwell on my RIA CS-Tactical with just a minimum of filing on the top of the housing. The lip on the top interfered with the grip safety on my pistol.Just a little filing and away we go.Heres a picture.
