Just picked up a Mil-Spec.
What is the first mod I should make?

Shoot it first.

I have put about 150 rounds through it with no problems.

Why change anything then?

Keep shooting!
If it keeps working fine, and if the gun feels good in your hand, do not change anything.
Most people have associated 1911s with custom work, not necessarily true. You change what you want to improve or fix and the knowledge on what to improve or fix, comes with using the pistol.
Just enjoy it as it is, and if you find something that bothers you, then you change it.

mbash, I liked my WW2 mil-spec so much that I bought two. One I totally modified and the other I kept completely original.

I would like to change the sights and the grips. Also the trigger. Any suggestions?

I had a Videcki trigger and Trijicon tritium night-sights installed on the one I modified.

Novak Low-mounts, as far as sights are concerned. Triggers, I use Wilson on mine.

The addage that if it ain't broke don't fix it holds merit. If you are going to change some things keep in mind that after market parts often require hand fitting. Drop in doesn't always work. As far as grips and a trigger go, you need to consider the size of your hand and your intent with the pistol. I have small hands snd prefer a short trigger coupled with Mcormick slim grips and some skate board tape as poor mans checkering.
Experimentation over time is often the best remedy.
