Are parts interchanghable between the 1991A1 compact and the officers model? You can find a lot of aftermarket parts listed for the officers but
absolutely nothing for the compact. My brother has a compact and would like to make some changes.

I believe so. Just keep in mind that the 1991A1 pistols are Series 80 internally, with the firing pin safety.

Thanx for the reply. The previous owner of this gun had tritium night sights
installed and the firing pin safety was eliminated in the process. as I understand it a lot of aftermarket sights mandate removal of it.

I have a 1991 Compact as well. For all intents and purposes, it is an Officers Model in a Parkerized finish with rubber grips. All parts are interchangeable.

is this true? i have owned two oacps and have never heard that before. what brand sights required this? oddly, i replaced the front sites on both of them , but never the rears. ;)

Replacing the sights does not require the removal or elimination of the firing pin safety in a compact, ultra compact, or any size thereof in a 1911. If the compact 1991A1 is a carry gun, LIABILITY is the key word whenever a safety feature is removed or altered with.

Sorry if i gave any misinformation. As I said this is something I read somewhere once. I have never owned a colt with a fireing pin safety myself. My llama
max-1 has it and I was forced to eliminate it when it started to regularly
prevent the slide from returning all the to battery. If my info is wrong then I have no idea why it was removed on my brothers gun.
