Since I had the camera out and was taking pics of my new Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical, I thought I'd snap a couple of my recently acquired American Classic II. Gotta get them both to the range soon and see if the RIA can shoot as well as the Metro. Thanks for having a look, Shoo

Great Value IMO! That hammer with the Hollywood decor is a tad bothersom though! I'm real interested to hear how it stacks up to the RI.

I think that if I was gonna get a budget priced 1911, this is the one I would choose. Looked at one at a show and it sure seemed like a nice firearm for the price.

sophijo, the state of Texas stamped on the slide of an STI is not distracting, the hollywood hammer is just the MA for the Metro Manila.
Get out the dremel, or buy a RIA hammer, Im sure it\'ll fit.
Firestorm is what they are called in PI, they dont have the roll marked American Classic.
Pinoy Pistols love the Firestorm, and why not!

Just got one in hard chrome.I have a blued model with 500 rounds thru it without any problems.ordered some better grips for it as the ones it came with were cracked. Here's mine.

Your grips were cracked and mine are like sand paper and one is smaller than the other. The small one, right side, doesn't cover the hole in the frame for the grips. It likes about 1/16" to cover the frame. Ordered a new set from Sarge today. I got the Hawaiian Pheasant wood (smooth) and I'm patiently waiting for their arrival.

+1 on Kenhwind's budget pistol choice. If you don't mind tolerating different hammers and grips that are not correct...correct them! If the pistols are reliable, use them as a base to build what you want.

Hello,
Great choice.
My MA is more true to form than most other manufactures. Every dimension that I have measured on every part of my MA ACII has been within print specifications. This is one reason that I used the ACII as a upgrade pistol because MA doesn't use odd ball parts like many other manufactures do. So far all Colt parts have been drop-in.

Thanks Eric, and good luck with yours. Mine has been awesome so far, and worked perfectly the second time around with the Kimber .22 conversion I bought. I thought the Rock Island Armory Tactical I also bought was slightly more accurate, but that may be due to the grips. I put a set of Herretts on the RIA and they just feel a little better in my hand. Both guns are a great value in my opinion. Think I'll order a custom set of grips for the ACII and then see what happens. Hmmm, maybe I'll sell my minty Walther PPK/S and see about buying a chrome ACII !!! Thanks to all, Shoo

You probably meant MA for Metro Arms not Metro Manila.
