I used to always be fussing over the extractors in my 1911s because they never seemed to be perfect. It seems like every time I thought I had them adjusted right.. when I could go 200+ rounds in practice... I would get 1 failure to extract/eject during a match.
So, I bought a Weigand Extractor Tensioning Tool.. and I haven't has a single failure in the last 12 IPSC and IDPA matches.
I was kind of shocked at how simple it was to adjust extractors correctly and I felt kind of stupid about messing around for so long without this tool.

Anyone else use this?

Yup. I like mine.
Don't need it often, but it's a lot better than other homemade methods (like two pairs of pliers, vice and pliers, or reversing the extractor and seating the base in the extractor hole, then bending with pliers) and it's really easy to use.

Reversing the extractor and seating the base in the extractor hole was how I used to do it.. I never was able to get it right.. :(

I've got one and use it all the time........mostly on other people's guns. I keep it in my range bag and have it with me when I'm working at the range.

I love it! I also bought the Lyman digital trigger pull gauge and the extractor tension gauges. I really like the idea of being able to set the tension as exactly as possible. Of course, I also bought a Hawkeye borescope system so I would KNOW when the barrels were clean. I know, I know, anal to the extreme, but it makes working on my rifles and handguns so much more fun! Really astounds friends and family when you can show them how far off their extractor tension is off or how dirty their rifle barrel really is. :D
