I moved this thread in the proper forum, since this is a US Government Issue pistol. I answered your email with instructions on how to post a new question, but please make sure you post it in the right forum.

That serial number makes the weapon 1945 production. You can download a military TM manual for the weapon here:

Thank You I Found A Manual But Not For A Ithaca 1911. It Said For All 1911. Do You Think All Clean And Dismantle Will Teach Me How To Take Care Of The Weapon? Pap

That Ithaca was shipped to Benicia Ordnance Depot in a 3,300 gun shipment (1852739-1856038) on July 27, 1944.... not in 1945.

Please do not use first letter capitals in every word you type, it's not proper.

I guess Chuck Clawson has an error in his small book? According to his list 1816642 - 1845997 is 1945 production, and this fellows weapon is 1854954.
papnpint, there is no manual specific to the Ithaca 1911A1, the TM manuals covers all USGI 1911 and 1911A1 pistols.

I don't think the problem is with Chuck Clawson's book. Look at what you just posted....and think about it.
What in the world possesses you to think that serial number 1854954 is within the 1945 serial range 1816642-1845997????:butthead:
.1854954
-1845997
......8957
1854954 is almost 9000 guns outside that 1945 serial range. Look at the whole serial range of the contract again... 1816642-1890503. Please note that the 1945 guns within that contract's serial range are in the middle of that contract's serial range... not at the end as most. Why? Becuase those pistols were shipped out of sequence, and Clawson correctly represents that, both in his serial number list at the back of the book and within the Ithaca shipping records he provides.

Scott you are absolutely right buddy! I guess I need to get to the eye doctor as my wife suggested. I guess I have a cronic case of foot in mouth disease too. ;)

Regardless of who manufactures them, military weapons all come with the standard military manual, not with an "instruction book" with a glossy cover prepared by the manufacturer. Since all military 1911s were built from the same blueprints and can use parts from any other military 1911 (at least in theory, and this is what leads to the so-called "mixmaster" rebuilds), the military TM covering all 1911s is the correct one for your pistol.

No problem. Sometimes we just can't see the forest for the trees being in the way.
