I hate generalizations as much as the next guy. But, right now I do believe SA is building better pistols than Kimber.

This might qualify as :dead_hors ... ;)

I do to. there are alot of people have problems with kimbers. I shoot 400-500 rounds a month and I need a steel framed gun so it will last longer. alot of people are having troubls with the alloy framed ones.

I like the look & feel of the black stainless with adjustable sights. I just traded my Kimber off. I think if I was buying a new 1911 now I'd get a S&W.

Gotta agree with JMag. Had a Kimber & nothing but heart ach & head ach :nono:

No longer is it mine. Since getting rid of it, I bought 3 Springers ( 2 1911's & an XD) & love em all.

Well , Ibought a Springfield. With all I read in the forums about Kimbers I went with the SA. I like the old internal extractor & the safety system is like a series 70..

thanks for all the help.

Yes, I would not buy another Kimber for now, although they seem to have just switched to putting internal extractors in all their guns. Give it a little time, and maybe some of all these complaints we keep reading about online will fade away.

I know every gun company makes a few lemons. But watch where you complain about Kimber. I've seen several threads on various sites where the happy Kimber owners jump all over someone w/ a problem, and they refise to acknowledge the problems the ext extractors have caused for Kimber. Seems that S&W has nailed the external extractor, though...

I am with you all about Springfield being a better all around 1911 over Kimber.

I might be biased here, but definitely Springfield after having so much fun with the 9mm Loaded Stainless. I had a decent look-over at a Kimber Tactical Custom II (EE) the other day and what they had done to the inside of the pistol didn't sit well with me at all. Just as well I passed it up because now a friend of mines is going to buy it and I dunno what he sees in it.
