I was using this gun once in awhile in the competetin but my problem is the 8 rounder wilson combat magazine is too tight to use was wondering if this gun is only capable of 7 rounder magazine instead of 8 Rd. is this gun only made for 7 round mags? or there is other mag brand that will work with it?

When you say it's too tight, are you saying it doesn't fit in the mag well? You should have no trouble hanging Wilson 10-rounders in your gun, let alone 8's. Tell me more.

If you fill the Wilson full with 8 rounds and insert it into the gun with the slide forward.......closed.........it will be a bit tough, as you are pushing the top round against the bottom of the slide, which in turn is pushing it further down into the magazine.
With 8 rounds in the magazine, there aint much room left........so it will be tough, but it will go.........got to slam it home to get it locked in properly.

Hi guys,
The wilson magazine 8 rd when fully loaded with 8 ammo and inserted to my colt GC NM series 80 you need to push it really hard for the magazine release lock to catch it or to lock it meaning you cant use it very fast on change mags so my question is do i need the slide to open lock before i can insert a 8 rd mags on it?

Hi wichaka,
I understand what you mean now is this the only way to do it because if you use CDP in the match its always 8 + 1 so how can i do this ? and why is colt different from other 1911? is this because this gun is older?

You sould be able to seat a fully loaded 8 round magazine with the slide closed, but it does take a lot more force than with a 7 round magazine.

I'm not having any problems with Mec-Gar or McCormick in my Colt M1991 Target/Combat.
Adios,

I alternate carrying a Springfield Loaded or Colt Commander, and the fully loaded mags will seat with the slide closed in both guns..........like stans said it will take some force.......I just slam it home like I do when Im doing mag changes in competition.
